SERPENTWITHFEET FELLOWSHIP

Growing up, serpentwithfeet was a Baltimore choir boy, with gospel music filling the air of the Christian family he grew up in, using it as a tool to express his queerness. He later studied vocal performance at the Arts uni in Philidelphia, before relocating to New York. With influences from Björk, to Destiny's child, serpent's music is expansive and avant-garde. Following his 2018 album soil, he's just announced a new record DEACON, and shared lead single 'Fellowship', featuring Sampha and Lil Silva. Directed by Kordae Jatafa Henry, the accompanying music video is truly mesmerising spectacle. Shot on film, it's a romantic and hazy depiction of love. The track is centred around an enticing percussion track, smothered in warm synth pads, and topped with a moreish pitched percussion melody. Sampha and Lil Silva join on the choruses, and a harmonised section that sings 'I'm thankful for the love I share with my friends'. serpentwithfeet's new album DEACON is out March 26th via Secretly Canadian. -Ellie Rose-Davies
